During two days we will:
- Gain new perspectives and share experiences from peers in in-depth conversations
- Learn with Nordic families, such as Ahlström (Finland), Bonnier (Sweden), Gleditsch (Norway), Hartwall (Finland), and Wallenberg (Sweden)
- Learn and practice change management with Pär Mårtensson, Associate Professor at House of Innovation, Stockholm School of Economics
- Enjoy a dinner at the Bonnier family mansion – a home for generations

- Participate in conversations over Swedish “fika” and dinner in an open and safe space
Topics we will work on:
- How do we balance the few in governance and the many owners?
- How do we open up for new representatives to carry the torch – or “the burden”?
- Do we go public or private?
- How do we nominate, select, evaluate and motivate (family) members for governance roles?
- How do we motivate the many, sometimes silent owners?
- How do we manage processes of change with hundreds of individuals?
- How do we balance change and tradition? How does that affect our ownership, governance and identity – where do we go from there?
- When we have done “it all” – what is governance 2.0 for large families?
Who is the event for?
The FBN Large Families Community was created to bring together families where there is a complexity in governance, ownership, and family due to the large number of members in both ownership and family. The complexity grows as the governance and ownership systems moves away from the situation where one or a few members could gather around a table to coordinate opinions, interests, needs and activities.
- This is true where ownership is spread over at least 50 owners
- This is also true where ownership for 2 generations has been spread over at least 30 owners
- As ownership can be organized through trusts and other vehicles, we welcome families where the collaboration around execution and representation of ownership is organized between at least 50 family members
We Welcome
- FBN family members who comply with one of the three criteria for a FBN Large Family, as described above
- FBN family members who currently hold governance roles in families that fit the three criteria
- 2 representatives per family.
- Limited to 50 participants to allow in-depth conversations.
